Starbucks…from the outside looking in…
So, I sit here in Starbucks sipping a Non-fat Extra-Shot Vanilla Latte watching commencement. Yea, that’s right. I’m sitting in Starbucks watching my class graduate. It’s a little backwards to say the least. I feel as prepared, if not more so, than a lot of my graduating classmates, and yet I’m still staying around.
I had a thought as I drove past Handy Andy. It wasn’t one of those nostalgic thoughts, but rather one of epiphany. I cannot wait to leave this place, and yet, I know I will enjoy returning in the fall. Of course, not to go to classes that mean nothing at this point, but I will enjoy seeing the familiar faces and knowing that I will stay in touch with this class more than any other. In fact, I cannot wait to go home for the summer. For once in almost 4 years, I am actually looking forward to my future (4 years ago was my freshman year at Taylor which was another great event in my life). Since then, I’ve had some really ups and a lot of downs in the past year or so. To know that I will be going home this summer to see some of my best friends and enjoy my work as I did last summer and spring, then coming back in the Fall to finally finish out and find a job, and, lastly, to know I will finally get paid for my education starting in January of 2009.
So, as they keep talking about crap that no one will remember tomorrow, I sign off to let everyone know I’m still around, and here isn’t so bad anymore.
